Release Date: October, 11th 2013

Platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Android, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Playstation Vita, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Macintosh Operating Systems

Rating: 10/10 (Steam), 4.3/5 (Google Play), 4.8/5 (itunes)

The Wolf Among Us is a graphic adventure game, played from a third-person perspective. The player controls protagonist Bigby Wolf, who must investigate the murder of a woman. Throughout the game, the player will explore various three-dimensional environments, such as apartment buildings and a bar. When exploring an environment, the player may find an object they can interact with; when this occurs, they must move a cursor over the object to select and examine it. Items of interest are stored in an inventory, and can be used later in the story. The player may also talk with non-player characters, and the conversations presented in the form of dialogue trees. The dialogue options chosen during conversations will either have a positive or negative affect on how other characters view Bigby, and their perceptions will influence future events in the story. Some scenes are more action-oriented, forcing the player to respond to a series of quick time event (QTE) prompts. The player is not required to complete every QTE prompt, and skipping certain prompts may affect future events in the story.

I’ve been trying to figure out the, I dunno, best way to ‘review’ the game. I love Telltale’s art style in general is so cool! I also like how the story is shaped so much around the choices you make as a player. I think it’s a game that could easily be played multiple times, however as much as the choices influence the story there is a limit to how much the story is influenced, obviously.

What did I like?

I really liked the art style, as I’ve said, and the story. I love how they took the concept of Fables and brought them into a world we’ll all recognize. Each of the characters are made to feel so real.

What did I dislike?

There wasn’t anything in particular I didn’t like. Maybe this will sound a bit nit-picky, but as much as the story was altered by particular choices – I feel like it wasn’t as much of an alteration as I would have expected or imagined.

Personal Rating: 4/5

I know it’s not a very in depth review, and I do apologize for not posting anything in over a month.

Until next time,

Warm hugs,

Morgenstern!

Game Releases 2017

Tuesday, 3rd January 2017

How’s it shakin’ bacon?

There are so many games to be released in 2017. I want to share the one’s I’m particularly excited about. So, without further ado, here are five games that I’m excited to play in 2017 (or whenever they’re released)

Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy (Naughty Dog)

Platform(s): PS4

Release Date: TBC 2017

I assume this is a product of Naughty Dog Productions. I don’t think this is quite a sequel and apparently it isn’t an expansion pack, but a stand alone experience. But this will follow whatever antics Chloe and Nadine Ross get themselves into. I enjoyed the Uncharted games (mostly) and I really look forward to playing this.

Outlast 2 (Red Barrels)

Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC

Release Date: TBC 2017

I really enjoyed Outlast and the DLC, but I really hope this game isn’t too similar to the pervious games. In this game the playable character is Blake Langermann, a freelance cameraman and the game is set in a small town in Arizona. The demon would suggest that he and his wife are in the middle of an investigation when their plane goes down.

The Last of Us Part 2 (Naughty Dog)

Platform(s): PS4

Release Date: TBC

I’ve literally no clue what to expect from this game and I shan’t be watching any trailers etc. until I’ve finished the first game. Also considering there is no date set, I don’t know for sure if it will actually be released in 2017 or not. However I am looking forward to it and I shall be keeping an eye out for the release date, I’ll try to post an update in comments when I obtain any news.

Crash Bandicoot Remastered

Platform(s): PS4

Release Date: TBC 2017

Crash Bandicoot is a classic character. As a child I didn’t really play video games, but I do remember going to a cousins house from time to time as a child and playing Crash Bandicoot (and sucking at it). A remastered version for the PS4 should be such for and so nostalgic.

Death Stranding

Platform(s): PS4

Release Date: TBC 2017/Unknown Release Date

I know very little about it but from the trailer it looks strange and fascinating. From what I know the game is an open world style action game for the PS4. It will star Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen (hey, look Daryl and Hannibal… heh) and was recorded with motion capture… like Until Dawn. The game seems to draw a lot on life and death and I imagine some lines may get blurred along the way, there will be stealth.

Until next time, warm hugs,
